About the job
As a Laboratory Assistant, you'll be the first quality checkpoint for client samples at an environmental testing laboratory. The role involves detailed sample handling, data entry, and coordination with analytical teams to ensure timely, accurate testing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unpack, and verify incoming sample shipments, checking custodial seals, temperatures, and sample integrity.
- Log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), generate labels, and assign work orders.
- Maintain chain-of-custody, track holding times, prioritize urgent work, and stage samples for further analysis.
- Document discrepancies, reconcile records, and support audits.
- Assist with inventory management, assemble sampling kits, and perform clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 6 months of experience in laboratory, warehouse, healthcare, or data entry settings.
- Proficiency with computers, barcode systems, and attention to detail.
- Experience in environmental testing a plus.
